Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

with

TEMPLE ISRAEL OF HOLLYWOOD

& THE WORD CENTER CHURCH OF LOS ANGELES

Wednesday afternoon, January 13, 2010

4:15-5:15 PM

Nussbaum Sanctuary

Temple Israel of Hollywood

7300 Hollywood Blvd.

Los Angeles

In 1965, Temple Israel of Hollywood's Rabbi Max Nussbaum welcomed the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the bimah (pulpit) to offer a sermon. Nearly forty-four years later, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Temple Israel will welcome the Reverend's voice back into its historic Nussbaum Sanctuary as we celebrate the legacy of Dr. King in collaboration with the clergy and congregants of Word Center Church of South Los Angeles.

Gospel Singer Contrella Patrick-Henry will collaborate with Temple Israel member, Michael Skloff, and Chazzan Danny Maseng and lead our communities in song and praise. Rabbi John Rosove will be joined by Pastors Alan and Marvene Wright of the Word Center Church who will deliver special messages on the legacy of Dr. King.

Note:

This event will be different from past years' joint celebrations in that there will be no combined choirs singing.  A more expansive selection from Dr. King's speech will be heard.

Our Religious School and Day School students will participate.  Their parents and the entire community are welcome. The event is free and open to the public.

Contact Audrey Gallant in the Religious School at 323.876.8330 ext. 6000 or audrey@tioh.org to RSVP or for details.
