Our Philosophy: Camp Simcha is a day camp for students entering the 1st through 5th grades in the fall and a Madrachim C.I.T. program for young leaders entering the 6th grade and up. Our programs incorporate aspects of our Day School’s acclaimed physical education and fine arts departments and our camp activities are based upon the enrichment classes that are highly successful with our Day School students. Our experienced specialists and staff are dedicated to bringing your child a summer that is both fun and educational, in a caring and nurturing environment. Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with flexibility for extended hours before and after camp, in order to accommodate families who may need the extra hours of supervision for their children.
Who We Are: Camp Simcha’s Director is Glenda Saul, a long time member of our Day School teaching staff, who brings fourteen years of camp counseling and directing experience to our program. Our campers are students from Temple Israel’s Day School and Religious School, as well as students from many local and private schools including Echo Horizon, Oakwood Elementary, Wonderland, and many others. Our staff is comprised of experienced counselors and instructors who are familiar to our campers and who are at home in the Temple Israel community. They include alumni of the Day School and Religious School, who bring excitement, energy and a love of children. Camp Simcha is run under the supervision and guidance of General Studies Coordinator, Jackie Simons, who has been overseeing the summer camp and enrichment programs at our school for the past three years.
A Typical Day at Camp Simcha: This summer your child will be able to participate in both physical education and fine arts program. Each morning, we offer a variety of enrichment classes ranging from painting and craft creation, to cooking, creative movement and sports. During the afternoon, our campers will spend time in a drama program that will culminate in an end of summer performance, and they will also spend time in a sports program that will conclude with an end of summer Camp Simcha Maccabiah (mini-Olympic Games). In addition, each day will have a designated theme, such as Dress-up Day, Joke Day and Talent Show Day.

Fantastic Friday Field Trips: We will continue to offer our optional Fantastic Friday Field Trips for families who want a five-day camp week. Our day will begin at the Temple and then we’ll take a trip to a local swimming pool. We’ll have a picnic lunch together before we move on to a museum, theater or park visit. Our camp day will end with a Shabbat ceremony led by one of Temple Israel’s Rabbis.
Hot Lunch: We’ve made it even easier for our campers and their parents by offering an optional hot lunch program. Vicki’s Lunch Box will be able to provide a fresh, hot lunch, made on the premises each day. Their menu has a variety of delicious choices that accommodate special dietary needs.
Camp Simcha’s Madrachim C.I.T.
