SegalI am honored and excited to serve as Vice President of Social Action for Temple Israel of Hollywood. My husband, Eric Krautheimer, and I joined TIOH in the summer of 2008, when we moved to Los Angeles from New York City. Our daughter, Elise attended the Nursery School and our son, Evan, attended Mommy and Me and Rockin’ Tots, and eventually followed Elise into the Nursery School. How quickly TIOH became our first home in California and the center of our world here! I volunteered at the Nursery School and for Big Sunday, and in 2009 became Co-Chair of the Nursery School Parent Association. Both of my children are now in the Religious School, and we are excited for Elise to become a Bat Mitzvah in February 2017. I have maintained my involvement at TIOH in many ways. I sit on the Family Youth Education Committee, and I am the TIOH point person for Reform California, a joint campaign of Just Congregations, the Religious Action Center, and the CCAR's Peace and Justice Committee to act powerfully together across lines of race, class, and faith for a more just and compassionate California. I joined the Board of Trustees in January 2015. Professionally, I worked as a criminal and capital defense lawyer in New York City, and as the Director of Youth Justice Programs at the Vera Institute of Justice in New York City. I have worked as a consultant with non-profits in Los Angeles, specializing in issues of risk, strategic planning, and organizational structure and management. I also serve and previously chaired the Board of New Los Angeles Charter School, and have served on the Board of Homeless Health Care Los Angeles. Currently I am also engaged in a fellowship for Jewish leadership with the Wexner Foundation.

I love Temple Israel and the community we have found here. When we first moved to Los Angeles, we were only supposed to stay for three years. Temple Israel was a big reason we stayed.
