Mussar is a Jewish spiritual practice that focuses on our human characteristics called middot (anger, gratitude, humility, trust and patience). The practice of Mussar includes studying Mussar writings on these characteristics, reflecting on them in our lives and adopting personalized practices that help us use these characteristics in productive ways.
This introductory class provides a meaningful education experience for any person interested in knowing and understanding Judaism and Jewish life. The course offers an opportunity to broaden Jewish awareness, acquire basic Jewish vocabulary and gain intellectual and experiential knowledge of Judaism in an open and relaxed atmosphere.
The National Jewish Outreach Program offers a popular course beginning each fall that is designed for Jews with little or no background in Hebrew. This free course concentrates on learning the Hebrew alphabet and beginning reading skills (required if you plan to become an Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah).
Join Chazzan Danny Maseng for an opportunity to learn the music we sing at services at TIOH. Learn the meaning of the prayers in the prayer book, the historical context of the liturgy, and feel part of a spiritually engaged community.
