High Holydays Hunger Project/ SOVA Food Collection
High Holydays Hunger Project
For many years now, the Temple has participated, along with hundreds of other Reform synagogues, in an international High Holydays Hunger Project. Last year, our congregation collected over 6,000 pounds of food that was donated to food banks in the city. This year, especially in light of cuts in aid to the poor on all levels of government, the response must be even stronger. For details...
SOVA Food Collection
Prior to the Thanksgiving and Passover holidays, the Day School holds a food drive to benefit SOVA, the Jewish food pantry in Los Angeles. Families fill grocery bags and return them to the school during the week before the holiday. Parent volunteers deliver the food to the SOVA food pantry and our first grade students vist the pantry to help sort and shelve the food.
