Social Action - Koreh LA
Be a light unto the nations - Become a KOREH L.A. reading partner

The "Nation" in question is the city of Los Angeles--where close to 70 % of 4th graders at our public elementry schools read below grade level. These children need help in order to become proficient readers, better students, and successful adults. They need KOREH L.A. And KOREH L.A. needs you.

KOREH L.A. is the one-to-one volunteer literacy program created by The Jewish Federation's Jewish Community Relations Committee to address this problem. Working with over 50 coalition partners like TIOH, KOREH L.A. recruits, trains, and coordinates reading partners who volunteer at L.A.U.S.D elementry schools. "Koreh" is Hebrew for read. If you've got one hour a week and can read this page, you've got what it takes to help a kid who is struggling with the darkness of illiteracy. Lean to read - and see the light.
