The Kabbalat Shabbat Service
Welcoming the Sabbath...
is the bridge between the week that is ending and Shabbat. It is a time during which each Jew strives to become one with self, family, friends, the community, the environment and God. Using a series of musical accompaniments to the "Song of Songs" and "Psalms," we continue the tradition established toward the end of the 16th century C.E. by a circle of Kabbalists (Jewish mystics) who lived in the northern mountain village of Safed, Israel. In recent years, many in the Reform movement have come to appreciate the beauty and power of the Kabbalat Shabbat service. As part of Temple Israel's liturgical reform, we have included this mystical and transcendent liturgy at the beginning of our Friday Shabbat evening worship. Join us at Temple Israel of Hollywood for Kabbalat Shabbat Services each Friday night at 6:30 PM followed by an oneg in the Mollie Wise Lobby. Free childcare is provided for your children ages 2 + every Friday night, unless there is a family shabbat.
Rabbi John Rosove, Rabbi Michelle Missaghieh and Chazzan Danny Maseng. To learn more about our clergy, visit our staff page.

Services are held at TIOH and are followed by an Oneg. Once a month we invite everyone attending services to join us for a complimentary catered dinner. We use our own Shabbat Siddur (everything is transliterated and translated- our clergy leads in English and Hebrew (occassionally Chazzan Danny Masent will introduce Ladino). We integrate poetry, literature, teachings, insight, Torah, rythm and beautiful music into all our services at TIOH.
Come join us each week and share in the taste of Shabbat! Children are welcome and invited to services, or they are more than welcome to take advantag of our Friday Evening Kids Program (see details above)

TOT Shabbat: For children ages 0-5 and their Families
Using traditional prayers focusing on the central themes of Shabbat, the Tot Shabbat service offers a special time for families with very young children. Everyone is encouraged to sing and participate in the traditional movements that accompany many of the prayers, allowing children to enjoy and experience directly the joyful celebration of their sacred heritage.
