We have been part of the Temple Israel community since the mid-1990’s, surrounded warmly at our sons’ B’nai Mitzvah, a wedding, a day school graduation, and for gatherings joyful and sad. I served on the Day School’s education commission— and for many years, and with great humans, on the Board of Trustees, including a term as chair. Among other endeavors, I co- chaired our shul’s Synagogue 2000 circle, and I continue to participate in our lay-led Torah study on Shabbat. Professionally, I was chief of staff for two Los Angeles Mayors, Richard Riordan and Antonio Villaraigosa, led two nonprofits, Coro and Reboot; and have served in senior posts in three foundations and a myriad of nonprofit boards, including my alma mater, Pitzer College. My grandma name is “Birdie.”
